PLANET GONGS

In 1982, the fortuitous meeting between Hungarian musician Jens Zygar and Swiss mathematician Hans Cousto lead to the creation in 1987 of the line of Planetary Gongs in cooperation with the Paiste gong company. The Planetary Gongs are based on Cousto’s theory of the Cosmic Octave. Following the Cosmic Octave’s principles, Planet Gongs are tuned to the natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and Planets.

The Planetary Gongs resonant in harmony with the celestial bodies and communicate a distinct aspect of the Music of the Spheres, which was first documented by Pythagoras in 450 BC.

Each planet gong contributes a vital pitch to the total harmonic resonance of our solar system. 30” TONE OF LIFE MAITREYA PEACE GONG

ESSENTIALLY A SYMPHONIC GONG - not tuned to any specific frequency. Designed to produce the widest range of overtones for their size but are darker in tone than Paiste or Meinl symphonics.

SYMPHONIC GONGS

A good staring gong, the symphonic contains even proportions of various gong characteristics, which can be brought forth using different mallets and striking points.

If you are looking for a symphonic, know that it is exceptionally consistent in its overall sound, no matter what size symphonic you choose. Yet each gong is unique, even of the same series and of the same fundamental note. Each gong is hand made. There will always be subtle differences in every gong made. Unless cast and machine lathed, no two gongs will truly possess identical character and song.

As Above, So Below

In 1978 Hans Cousto, a Swiss mathematician and musicologist, re-discovered a basic system of measurement which has its roots in the Pythagorean Mystery School (500B.C.) in which it is possible to transpose the movements of the planets into audible rhythms, musical tones and color. It is the universal harmonic relationships between all things based on sacred geometry from music, astronomy, meteorology, and microbiology.

The so-called “Third Measure” is an ancient, secret key of measure (The focus of the book: “The Serest of Chartre Cathedral” by Lous Charpentier) where the author sought the existence of a relationship between the forces governing spatial proportion and those underlying the division of time. the mysterious unit of measure on which the proportions of the Giza pyramid and Solomin’s Templer were based. WHAT GONGS TO CHOOSE?

Symphonic Gongs hold multiple tones and overtones, they are not tuned to a specific frequency. Paiste symphonic gongs typically range in size from 20”-60”.

Good travel sizes range from 20”-28”.

Don recommends the 28” symphonic as a good first gong for therapeutic purposes.

There are 4 types of Paiste symphonic gongs: 1. symphonic, 2. no-logo, 3. Tai-Log (with mandarin symbols), and 4. brilliant (mirror-like) finish

Planetary Gongs are tuned to particular frequencies of the individual planets and are said to have special characteristics. Paiste Gongs are available in these sizes:
